Chief Development Officer Jobs
A chief development officer provides vision, leadership, and coordination to an organization and its staff. Responsibilities include setting goals, evaluating performance, and managing the overall operations of the unit or organization. A chief development officer is required to engage the board, management, and staff in the development of long-range strategy that examines approaches to meeting the growth ambitions of an organization. It is the duty of a chief development officer to maximize use of resources and develop a financial support strategy. A chief development officer should have a bachelor’s degree though an advanced degree is preferred by most organizations. A chief development officer position requires significant leadership experience in building a strong development program. Such positions may require 8-10 years of successful leadership roles in program management, solicitation, and staff management. Strong budget preparation skills are usually required for such positions. Experience in relationship building/networking and strategic planning skills are essential.
