There was an accident nearby where we live in the village where a man was injured on the country lane by a van.  Running down the lane to keep fit, the man in his forties was training for an up and coming marathon and slipped in the way of the van which was speeding down the lane.  There is a blind spot and the sound of the van could not be heard by the runner as it was a very windy day.  The van sped around the corner at nearly fifty miles per hour as seen by a witness walking his dog at the time.  The witness said the runner had no chance a tall due to the speed of the van.
