It may seem strange to talk about technology when the topic is cherries, but the two things actually do have something in common.  Years ago fruit was grown, picked, sorted, and shipped by hand.  Today it is often done in plants and there are systems in place to handle many functions.  Computer technology is being utilized to do things like cherry sorting.  The software uses a visual system which can tell the difference between larger fruits and smaller ones, like cherries. It can then sort them accordingly.  The marriage of produce and technology has resulted in increased efficiency and speed in processing many fruits, including cherries.
